What is the Covenant? The Cuba/Florida Covenant is a relationship between the two Annual Conferences designed to strengthen the ministries of the local churches in each Conference and for developing Conference wide programs. A covenant means a mutual sharing of resources. What is happening in the East Central District? In October 2005, two mission caravans visited our sister Districts and a Mission Team worked on a building project with a sister church. The District Cuba/Florida Covenant Team is ready to provide speakers and to begin matching churches to be designated as Sister Churches. What does it mean to commit to being a Sister Church? The relationship begins with prayer. Your congregation would pray for the Pastor, leaders and ministries of your Sister Church. They in turn would pray for you. You can communicate through letters, sometimes through email and phone calls. Children can send greeting cards and your congregation can find other creative ways to stay in touch. As the relationship grows, you may develop other mutual ways to support and encourage each other. How can we participate in a caravan? The District Cuba Team will coordinate caravans visiting Cuba. It is important that we work together as a District to plan these trips because the Cuban government gives only a limited number of religious visas each year, and we need to coordinate the trips with the District Superintendents in Cuba. How do we get more information? If you would like more information about the Covenant, if you would like to become a Sister Church, or if you would like to invite a speaker from the District Cuba/Florida Covenant Task Force to share in your local church, contact:
